Course description: To train licensed cosmetologists and estheticians the removal of the dead cell later of the skin by use of devices, tools, and machines listed as Class I or II medical devices including, but not limited to, microdermabrasion equipment, and certain red LED light.
Course length is a total of 14 hours divided up into 2 days. During this time, students will receive both theory and hands-on learning.
Breakdown of instruction by day:
- Day 1 – Total of 8 hours of theory in the classroom which will include powerpoint presentations, instructional materials, and group discussions. Topics include anatomy of the skin, skin conditions, micro exfoliation, procedural explanations, cleaning/sterilization, laws/rules/regs, and salesmanship.
- Day 2 – Total of 6 hours primarily focusing on skills lab including live demonstrations, student practice, followed by a question and answer session. Occupational health, safety, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization will be reviewed as well.
